I was so pissed that they made Alek such a threatening, pushy creep. In the books Chloe pretty much initiated everything, and Alek was really laid-back and welcoming and wanted to make her happy. I didn't particularly ship anything in the books, but the choices in the TV show made me side-eye it like mad.
