Nikita was much better! (than everything else this week! as usual! ;D)

TVD TVD TVD.

two short immediate thoughts! longer thoughts later.

Klaus: On your birthday? Do you really think that low of me?
Caroline: Um, duh? Yes.

Okay, if they had advertised Klaus as completely insane from the beginning, that would be one thing. If they had upped the hilarious, twisted wrongness of the scene, it would be another. But the lighting, music, and direction was like a romance?? I think this episode I stopped taking Klaus seriously? I have been growing increasingly underwhelmed since the season finale. I don't even think he's that terrifying any more because he keeps moping/cry-facing all over the place about his family, meanie Stefan killing his witches and hybrids and his doppleganger and delivering excellent points about what a shitty boyfriend Klaus was, etc. Now he seems to be seducing Caroline to get back at Tyler and to replace the holes Rebekah and Stefan left? Um, I! Are they making him horrible on purpose so Elijah will become the next big bad or something? Or Katherine reclaim the title? I don't know why Katherine shakes in her boots over him any more!

Elena: Stefan! Stefan, stop
After Elena's scenes: fighting with Alaric to vent her frustration, getting herself hammered, being force fed vampire blood again and everything Stefan did to her following that. Tonight her faces, I just :(.

She is my hero just for waking up every morning, for real.

okay here's another one (no spoilers)
So what was the title referencing? Who's town is it? Everyone and how their life is going right now on the show? Bonnie, Tyler, Elena, Caroline, and Matt ("the kids"). Or specifically Elena and Matt?

I think Klaus wants to make a good impression on the towns people. He needs them to think that he is reasonable and Stefan is the dangerous one. He played them perfectly. Carol feels indebted to him because he spared her son the pain of turning into a werewolf for the rest of his life. Now that he is a hybrid Tyler controls when he turns. I can't imagine Carol thinking being a hybrid is worse because she received a first hand seat to Tyler's turning, and the pain it causes him. Carol, the mayor, already feels like she owes Klaus for saving her son from that painful fate. Now that Tyler is sired to Klaus, Klaus got him to bite Caroline, the sheriffs daughter. He gets to come in and look like a reasonable fellow by saving her daughter. Now Liz will feel like she owes him for saving her daughters life. I think Caroline saw the boy/early vampire that Klaus was before he turned into a monster trying to break his curse. I could see that part of Klaus slipping through occasionally, and Caroline just got to see it. It wasn't planned. Or he did plan to act like that so he could turn Caroline against her friends.

I wish we could have seen Carol coming to those terms, rather than a random "oh yes I'm on his side now! both because of and even though he has my son bound to his will" exposition. :( It just seemed... too breezy? A lot of the town+Klaus stuff just seemed too breezy, and not in a horror struck way?

I mean, he's building a "fortress"? When will the government step in, when Klaus declares this land to be renamed? I know this is a supernatural show but now I'm starting to lose my ability to suspend belief, which never happens to me! My imagination and ability to swallow implausible plot lines is usually endless!

What you are saying makes a lot more sense than what I got from the episode itself.
